Job Description : The Chief Operator is responsible for managing the operation and maintenance of the water treatment systems, well supply sources, Gruhn Property TCE remediation site, distribution system water quality, New Zealand Road Hot Box, water storage tanks, SCADA, Town gravel banks located on True Road and RT107. The Water Department Chief Operator is an exempt management employee who is responsible for performing an assigned subset of tasks pertaining to the supervision of department employees, technical tasks, and project management and support. The management functions performed includes the management and supervision of equipment operators/laborers and certified water operators. Working under the direction of the Superintendent, he/she is responsible for skills instruction; safety training and compliance. The Chief Operator will assist the Superintendent in the budget preparation, Planning Board Technical Review, interfacing with Federal and State Regulators, and administration and enforcement of Federal, State, Town and departmental regulations. Ability to use basic computer applications such as Word and Excel. Valid driver's license is required. Possession of a valid Grade III Water Works Treatment Operator and a Grade II Water Distribution Operators Certification from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.
